PGA of Australia Centenary Launch, Sydney

Tuesday morning saw nearly 70 corporate and media guests arrive at The Mint in Sydney for the media launch of the PGA of Australia's Centenary year celebrations, hosted by myself.

The highlight of the day was definitely the opportunity to hear from both Peter Thomson and Kel Nagle, both in the Golf Hall of Fame and two of the greatest golfers ever produced by Australia.

Interviewing them was a special privilege. Who knows when, or if, we'll ever have them in the same room together again. Nagle's clarity of mind in recalling his greatest moments in the sport is as lucid as a teenager's. His is a remarkable record, including 61 victories on the PGA Tour of Australia and the memorable win in the Open Championship of 1960.

The PGA should be congratulated on a superbly run event. It is a harbinger of great things to come for 2011, one of the most important years in Australian tournament golf for a long time.
